Guru Purnima was celebrated with much fervor and
joy. As always many devotees came to Swargarohan to take part in the
festivities. Along with the bhajans, dhuns, prayers and speeches, this
year P. Maa decided to have a Shobha Yaatra for Prabhuji’s Paduka.
Today was also the first time that we used Yogdham (the new hall) for
any type of sittings. Yogdham is not completely finished; the
foundation is set but the tiles (floor and wall), the windows, doors
still have to be installed, but with all the decoration one would not
know that the hall is only partially constructed.
The celebration actually started on the night of
the 23rd. P. Maa kept a reading of the Guru Lilamrut. We began at
11:00pm and finished at approximately 4:00am. Even though it was not
compulsory for us to be present at the reading, many of the devotees
decided to stay awake and participate. Because of Guru Purnima there
was an influx of devotees at Swargarohan, and since the one wing of
the residence was still under construction there was a shortage of
space for everyone to sleep. P. Maa solved this problem by keeping the
reading of the Lilamrut at night. With many of the devotees staying
awake all night there was room for others to sleep.
The day started at 6:00am with pranam and morning
prayers, after which began the Paduka Yaatra. P. Maa had some of the
devotees put together a palki (two rods were attached to a chair. It
was cushioned and decorated). P. Maa brought Prabhuji’s Paduka from
Yogtirth and placed them on the palki, along with a Swaroop of Pujya
Shree. The devotees were going to take the palki around Swargarohan,
but in order to participate one had to take a niyam.
The night before Guru Purnima P. Maa announced,
“Whoever wants a chance to carry Pujya Shree’s palki has to take a
niyam. Any niyam, even a small one and they have to practice this
niyam at least until next Guru Purnima. Take a niyam which you can
honor." |
