When you're in India,
December 25 is just a regular day, although it's government holiday. Today
was very eventful. As usual at 6:30 am we did pranam at Vamanbhai's
residence. Gangaben (wife of Vamanbhai), currently the eldest member of the
family, gave 'Chiki' sweet to everyone. It followed by a song describing
importance of Kapura village - the pious place where Maa took birth. Ladies
lined up first in rows of four followed by men in the back. Line was so
long that in the middle, a handheld loudspeaker was necessary to air Bavani. Morning
walk (Prabhat Feri) took different path in the Kapura village and ultimately
reached the main mandap.
Today no one sat in
front of the main mandap, everyone sat inside the hall. Entrance is
connected by a 'L' shape walkway to the main hall. Here, Maa took care to
display many pictures covering important events at Swargarohan and other
places.

The display covered
among other things Calgary Shibir, Medical camp, Distribution of food grains
to poor and needy as well as the 'Bhajan Sandhya' by Gujarat's famous singer
and musician Ashit and Hema Desai. It also contained articles on the
musical celebrity that entertained everyone last night. The displays were
very informative. Maa worked very hard to make them. She herself
hand-wrote title for each photos and categorized them very nicely.
Just like yesterday,
Jagdipbhai and Naynaben brought Maa to the Hall. Today's Pranams were done
on tunes from latest album -'Rakshmam' sung by Ashit Desai.

After Pranam, Ashit and
Hema Desai's party entered the hall. Girls from local schools and from
Kapura Village welcomed them with 'Ajani Ghadi Re Raniyamni...' (These
moments are auspicious ... ) Garbo. Each girl had a decorated pot on her
head and they danced rythmatically and slowly in two column along the two
sides of these two celebrities.
Everyone in the Hall got
up to honor the renowned singers. They offered Pranam to Maa. You can tell
that Ashit, Hema and their son Alaap were in awe and very pleased with this
type of loving welcome which they probably had not received previously. Just
like last night, this morning also Ashit and party showed their musical
talents. Maa was highly pleased when Hema Desai sang 'Raam Sabhaa Maa Ame
Ramvane Gyataa ..." Maa informed that the bhajan was very dear to 'Bhikhi
Baa'- Maa's mother and that she often used to sing it.
