The final chapter of this great dialogue ends with path of salvation. It sums up the gist of the message given in earlier chapters. It draws distinction between renunciation (tyāg) and relegating fruits of action (sanyās). The chapter also describes three types of knowledge, three type of action, three types of actor, three types of patience and three types of pleasures.

The division of society prevailing at the time of Gita's message are reflected in the description of division of their duties. Finally, Lord Krishna depicts path to attain the supreme by either action (karma), knowledge (Gyan) or by devotion (Bhakti). With the celestial message of Lord Krishna, Arjuna's reluctance for war disappears and he prepares for the holy war perceiving it as his duty.
 
અધ્યાય અઢારમો : મોક્ષસંન્યાસ યોગ

ગીતાના આ આખરી અધ્યાયમાં મોક્ષ વિશેની વાત કરવામાં આવી છે. આ અધ્યાયના અંતભાગમાં ગીતાના સંદેશના મુખ્ય બધા શ્લોકોને આવરી લેવાયા છે. આ અધ્યાયમાં ત્યાગના ત્રણ પ્રકાર વર્ણવવામાં આવ્યા છે. ત્રણ પ્રકારનું જ્ઞાન, ત્રણ પ્રકારના સંન્યાસ, ત્રણ પ્રકારના કર્મ, ત્રણ પ્રકારના તપ તથા ત્રણ પ્રકારના સુખની વાત કહેવામાં આવી છે.

ગીતાનો સંદેશ જે સમયે આપવામાં આવ્યો તે સમયે પ્રવર્તમાન સામાજિક વ્યવસ્થાને ધ્યાનમાં લઇને ભગવાન કૃષ્ણે બ્રાહ્મણ, ક્ષત્રિય, વૈશ્ય અને શુદ્રના કર્મોને પણ બતાવ્યા છે. ભગવાન કૃષ્ણ કેવળ ભક્તિ, કેવળ જ્ઞાન કે કેવળ ધ્યાનનો મહિમા ગાવાને બદલે ત્રણે માર્ગથી ઇશ્વર સુધી પહોંચી શકાય છે એમ બતાવે છે.

શ્રી કૃષ્ણના અદભૂત સંદેશને સાંભળવાથી અર્જુનનો સંશય દુર થાય છે અને તે યુદ્ધકાર્યમાં પ્રવૃત બને છે. યુદ્ધ હવે એને એના કર્તવ્ય સમાન લાગે છે. ગીતાનો ઉપદેશ આ રીતે બાહ્ય ત્યાગને છોડી પોતાના સ્વધર્મમાં-કર્મમાં પ્રવૃત થવાનો અમૂલ્ય સંદેશ પૂરો પાડે છે.
